The first ever Pokerstars.com UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) begins today in Galway, Ireland at the Radisson hotel. The brand new tour will be taking place accross the UK and Ireland over the next 12 months and will be making it’s start at the Irish Poker Championships.
The €2000 main event is attracting some big names, with Marty Smyth, Peter Eastgate and JP Kelly the bookies’ favourites to take home the title. Even so, it’s expected that there will be a large influx of online qualifiers. Other big names confirmed for the event include James Akenhead, Neil Channing, Andy Black and Jude Ainsworth (who actually won the Irish Poker Championships here in 2008)
