Padraig Parkinson Wins UKIPT Galway

padraigThe Pokerstars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Galway finished last night with local hero Padraig Parkinson emerging victorious. Parkinson pocketed €125,000 and a seat in the EPT London after beating Paul Marrow heads up.

The heads up match was short but entertaining between Parkinson and his friend Marrow, which was effectively over when Parkinson won an early race with ace-queen to the pocket sixes of Marrow. This forced an all in confrontation with the king queen of Parkinson against 2-5 of Marrow to give the high profile Parkinson the win.

Parkinson will certainly prove to be a popular winner, being well known and loved for his co-commentry with Jesse May in TV poker tournaments and on the Poker Show radio show. Parkinson became well known in the poker scene when he finished 3rd in the 1999 World Series of Poker Main event and later won the 5th Series of Late Night Poker.

Padraig commented after the win ‘I was born just down the road so I can’t believe that I won it. If anyone wants a drink, I’m buying!’
