WSOP Day 7 Latest

WSOP_CHIPS Ivey threatening at WSOP Main Event

There are only 29 players left out of the 6,494 who entered the 2009 WSOP Main Event as we enter the dinner break on Day 7 and Billy Kopp is Top of the Pops and singing a happy tune with the chip lead and a very nice 15,100,000 chips. But surely he must be looking over his shoulder as poker legend and most people’s favourite for victory, Phil Ivey, close behind in second with 12,200,000 chips.

Yesterday’s chip leader Darvin Moon is still going strong with 12,000,000 and Jeff Shulman follows with 10,900,000. The magician Antonio Esfandiari has just taken a massive hit which saw most of his chips disappear but he still is in contention with 2,900,000.

British ‘Hitsquad’ member James Akenhead will enjoy his dinner while he contemplates his next move holding a very comfortable 4,950,000.

Each of the remaining 29 players is guaranteed $253,941 and after two more eliminations the payout will reach a cool $352,832. Naturally, each player is only thinking about the grand prize of $8,546,435 and of course the gold bracelet and, perhaps most importantly, title of World Champion 2009.
