WSOP 2010 Schedule Announced

The 41st annual World Series of Poker has been announced. The biggest event in the poker calendar will start on May 27th and go on until July 17th with only the 4th of July being scheduled as an “off day”.
The tournament, which began in 1970 will play host to 57 events. The first will begin on the 28th May and is the most expensive buy in of the tournament at a massive $50,000. The winner of the event will receive the prestigious Chip Reese Memorial trophy as well as the prize money and a WSOP Bracelet. Players who compete will have to play eight variations up until the final table where they will play No Limit Texas Hold’em to crown a champion. The opening weekend also sees the first $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em contested. Last years same event reached record entries outside of the Main Event with 6,012 people showing up hoping to take down the top prize.
The Main event will begin on the 5th of July and will run for 12 days when we will have our November 9 which will return on the 6th November to battle for the most coveted prize in poker.
This year will see new rules come in that address player comfort. Tournaments will start at either 12 noon or 5pm pacific time and a maximum of 10 one hour levels will be played throughout the day. Registration will stay open until commencement of the third level of events or until the event is sold out but players arte advised to book in advance o avoid the disappointment that some players faced last year when they arrived to a sold out main event. Names of particular note included Patrik Antonius and TJ Cloutier.
Despite the poor economic climate the 2009 WSOP boasted the most amount of entries ever with 60,875 people taking to the felt in the hope of coming away with a piece of the $174 million overall prize money.
