NOVEMBER 9 ANNOUNCED
Day 8 began with 27 people looking for a spot at the final table where the winner will take home a staggering $ 8,546,435 and the most prized possession in poker, the WSOP Main Event Bracelet.
In the final day before the remaining 9 competitors return in November it was not long before the first person hit the rail. Leo Margets (the only remaining woman in the tournament) lasted only 20 minutes before her A 7 ran into the A 10 of Warren Zackey. When the board saw a 10 hit Leo needed a massive amount of help from the remaining cards and it never came. She left the tournament in 27th place with $352,832.
Warren Zackey then ran into Jesse Haabak who went all in with Q 9. Zackey called with the superior A K and when the flop delivered 10 K A Haabak was left needing cards that never came. He was out in 26th place and Warren Zackey seemed to have gained some much needed momentum at this late stage of the tournament. However it didn’t last as after losing a couple of hands he went all in with the remainder of his stack with a pair of deuces. After the flop he was behind and he never regained the lead as the turn and river left him hitting the rail in 22nd place.
Players were falling at an astonishing rate for a final day as everyone had predicted day 8 would last at least 14 hours. Something that had been the case in previous years as nobody wanted to miss the final table and the chance at the bracelet and the big money.
With everybody at the final table this year being made a millionaire the stakes were high as Jordan Smith pushed with his pocket aces after a flop had hit the board that read 8 4 2. After chip leader Darvin Moon announced a raise Smith went all in and as Moon turned over trip eights Smith knew he was in trouble. No help came on the turn or river and Jordan Smith finished in 10th place. He took home prize money of $896,730. After almost 11 hours of play we had our November 9. The Finalists will have a break of 115 days before play resumes on November 7th. Also September will see The WSOPE return to London with 4 more Bracelets up for grabs ahead of the final of the biggest event in the tournament calendar.
