What a Week For Blom

Whenever Viktor Blom, better known as his online alias “Isildur1,” takes to the virtual felt fireworks are guaranteed. The 20-year old Swede is one of the loosest and aggressive players to have ever played the game and he never fails to get action from his fellow high-stakes cash specialists.

Last Friday he managed to lose more than $320,000 in a single day, $170,000 of that playing six-max $25/$50 Pot Limit Omaha and a further $146,000 to Sauce123 playing heads-up PLO with blinds of $50/$100. The the following day he played for 12 hours and managed to log 5,500 hands to finish up a staggering $334,000 in a single day! He won $328,000 of this against Sauce123, playing mainly heads up $50/$100 No Limit Hold’em, with Blom winning one pot worth $77,617.

In that hand Sauce123 made it $300 to play from the button and Blom three-bet to $1,200, a bet that his opponent called. The flop came down 9d-7c-5h and Blom bet $1,500, Sauce123 made it $4,777 to play only to see Blom put in another raise, this one to $10,650. That was the last of the raising on the flop as Sauce123 called. The turn was the 4d and with $23,700 already in the pot Blom bet $16,450, leaving himself just $10,508.85 behind. Sauce123 moved all in for more than $68,000 and Blom snap-called. Sauce123 turned over TsTh but he was crushed by the 5c5d of Blom that had flopped a set.

Most players would be happy with banking $14,000 up for two days work but not Blom. The following day, Sunday, he played another mammoth 11 hour session and booked a win of $234,000 but the best was yet to come from the enigmatic Swede.

Between Wednesday and Thursday Blom played for 26 hours straight and won close to $200,000! The majority of this monster win came courtesy of Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond who has just moved from the USA to Canada so he can continue to play online poker. Unfortunately though his 3,826 hand session against Blom cost him $176,505.

Blom has now played more than 276,000 hands on PokerStars this year alone and has more than half a million dollars of profit to show for it, which is an amazing record for the “King of Swings.” Can he keep up this latest charge or will he go onto lose it all, and more besides? Only time will tell but it should be certainly entertaining along the way!
