Swede’s Spanish Success

EMOP Swede wins European Masters of Poker Barcelona

Anton Wigg from Sweden wins EMOP Barcelona as a record 399 players took to the felt at Casino Barcelona in the 4th leg of the tour.

Wigg topped the field taking down €55,502 for his victory. The EMOP Barcelona event attracted the largest field of the tour so far.

After Viktor Manfred Kåvenstam was eliminated at 4th place, the final three players made a deal according to their chip stacks, deciding to play for a small amount of money, and the EMOP trophy.

Maciej Swicarz then knocked out Kristian Eriksson and got heads-up with Wigg. Swicarz dominated the table for a short period but in the end Wigg managed to take control. In the final hand, the players were all in on the flop, both players holding top pair but the Swede’s pair of nines with an ace kicker was enough to win.

The final table results and payouts were:

1 Anton Wigg €55,502

2 Maciej Swicarz €73,655

3 Kristian Eriksson €65,565

4 Manfred Kåvestam €23,142

5 Morgen Karlsson €18,354

6 Andreas Jansson €15,162

7 Diomedes Sebastiano €12,768

8 Juha-Matti Toivainen €10,773

9 Julien Herold €8,778

The final leg of the tour will see EMOP land in Vittoriosa, Malta from September 23 to 26 where up to 500 players will compete in the €1,500 + €150 buy-in event. In this event players will start with 15,000 in chips compared to the regular 10,000.
