On December 21, 2001 PokerStars dealt its very first hand of real money poker and now less than 10 years later they are preparing to celebrate dealing their 70-billionth hand! In case you are having difficulty visualising that many hands it looks a little like this: 70,000,000,000!
According to a spokesperson for the World’s biggest online poker room, the 70-billionth hand will be dealt within the next nine days and anyone playing in real money cash games between October 29 and the so-called “Mega Milestone” hand will stand the chance of winning a share of $750,000.
Prize money will be awarded to players who are dealt into every one-millionth hand from 69,700,000,000 up to 69,999,000,000 and will be based on the number of VPP they have accumulated in the 50-hands previous to the milestone hitting. For each VPP the player has earned during the 50 hands prior to the milestone hitting will be awarded $50 so the potential prizes are huge!
When the hand counter in the top left of the screen reaches an almost unbelievable 70,000,000,000 the prizes are going to be multiplied by TEN meaning that $500 will be awarded for each VPP earned in the 50-previous hands! Not only that but PokerStars have promised to double the winner’s prize and add a further $70,000 to it for good measure, meaning this could be a record breaking win for one lucky player and a serious bankroll boost for everyone else at the table.
The last time PokerStars ran a promotion like this it was when the 65th-billion hand was on the horizon. During that promotion a staggering $770,588.88 was awarded to more than 1,600 PokerStars players, including $68,420 to a New Zealand-based player known as “yllams” who was playing $0.10/$0.25 six-max cash games at the time!
