Norwegian Wins European Masters of Poker Barcelona

Andreas Hagen from Norway has won the fifth European Masters of Poker season III title topping a 455-strong field at Gran Casino, Barcelona on Sunday October 2.

He lifted €90,310 for his victory in the €1,100 buy-in event after a heads up deal saw him take €80,310, his opponent Robin Appell accept €70,310. €10,000 was left to play for which Hagen duly scooped about 15 hands later.

The final hand saw Hagen bet 400,000 preflop with 7-7 and Appell move all in with K-6. The flop came A-5-2, the turn 5 and the river 7 giving the Norwegian a full house.

Hagen now joins Soren Larsen of Denmark, Abdul Atila Seiar Seiar of Romania, Jukka Koskela of Finland and Stefan Hansen of Norway as season III EMOP winners who took down titles in Dublin, Bulgaria, Spain and Portugal respectively.

The tour now gears up for its sixth and final stop of season III at Royal Casino Spa & Hotel resort, Riga, Latvia from November 17 to 20, 2011.
