The Warsaw leg of the European Poker Tour has been won by Portugal’s João Barbosa after a tough final table battle in Poland yesterday.
All eyes were on Team Pokerstars Professional Dario Minieri as the final table got underway in Warsaw yesterday afternoon. Minieri has been in sparkling form in 2008 and was the red hot favourite to add to his impressive cashes with the EPT Poland title.
It wasn’t to be, however, for Minieri. The young Italian star eventually succumbed in 3rd place for a €123,162 pay day as Portuguese pro’ João Barbosa went on the rampage.
Barbosa has really put Portuguese poker on the European map with his victory. A €367,141 winner’s cheque and the prestigious EPT Warsaw title will have been reason enough for man y poker players to celebrate, however, João Barbosa turned 26 years old on the day of his victory. €367,141 will buy an awfully big birthday cake for the young man from Porto.
Barbosa faced Nico Behling, from Germany, in the heads up encounter. The cards certainly fell Barbosa’s way throughout and in the final hand Behling found himself all in with
against the
of Barbosa. The board fell

to seal Behling’s fate and 2nd place.
24 players walked away with a profit from their 21,000 Zloty (€4,000) investment in Warsaw. The full list of payouts looked like this:
