A brand new poker awards ceremony takes place tonight in London, celebrating the very best in British and international poker. Voting has been open for the past few weeks giving the poker fans the chance to have their say on who takes home the awards. The Poker Channel is delighted to have teamed up with The British Poker Awards to sponsor the Best UK Card Room category. Other awards being handed out tonight include Best Poker League, Best Contribution to Poker, Best UK Forum and Player of the Year. Organised as a collaboration between various magazines and online portals the awards forms part of the inaugural month long London Poker Festival. Tickets for the event have intentionally been kept low to encourage as many fans as possible to attend – organiser Michael Caselli said “We have always wanted to make the awards as accessible for the poker playing public possible. This is like the BAFTAs of poker and we want every poker enthusiast to be able to experience a slice of the upper echelon of British Poker.”
The awards take place at the prestigious Kensington Close Hotel and fans will be welcomed by a champage reception followed by a £50 NLH tournament following the awards hosted by Antonio Esfandiari. Full details of all the winners will be posted here following the awards.
