American PokerStars player Brandon Cantu is a massive chip leader at the end of Day 2 at EPT Vilamoura with 557,400. The 29-year-old, a friend of Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, has played several EPTs and now seems set to make his first EPT cash. A total of 70 players remain in the tourney – just 14 left to the money.
PokerStars Team Online’s Andre Coimbra is currently in second place at the €5,300 event with 476,400. Coimbra hails from the town of Coimbra in the north of Portugal but is currently living in Greece. He recently set himself the challenge of making $60,000 in 60 days on PokerStars – he hit his goal in just 53 days.
Also up among the leaders is Team PokerStars Pro JP Kelly who finished the day on 314,000. Friend of PokerStars and England football legend Teddy Sheringham is also thriving with 204,500; he won a huge pot close to the end of the last level. If he makes the money tomorrow, it will be his third EPT cash after min-cashes at EPT London and the EPT Grand Final last season.
The €5,300 EPT Vilamoura Main Event started with 384 players making it the biggest tournament ever held in Portugal. The tournament is running from August 28-September 2 at Casino Solverde on Portugal’s Algarve coast.
